In order to feel connected with that life spark, a click on the heels, one must rekindle self-knowledge around what beliefs & values they live by. Once that foundation is built, we can wake up every day setting that intention.
What you can then build on top of your life philosophy is a process of playing around with what your life passion is, until you realize it.
Why is this all important? First, once you know who you are, you have less chance of wavering on your two feet, feeling more grounded, despite what comes your way. Secondly, living everyday in your passion truly makes huge space for authentic happiness & feeling fulfilled.

I will now rewind the filmstrips of my life to a time before I was born, presented in Story Form:
Once upon a time, a magical paradise, called Heaven existed. It still does. Pink clouds decorate its’ skies, & golden stars are perched confidently beside them. The most omnipotent, omniscient, Divine Light oversees Heaven. The Divine Light has come to be called God.
Other smaller lights spark out of The Divine Light, & they live in this Blissful Paradise too. They are God’s angels. I am one of those Lights -yes a spark from the Divine Light, as are you.
The day arrived to have a beautiful dialogue with God. I was so excited as we were to discuss the Life I would create on Earth; for I loved new adventures.
With wings on my back, dressed in white, golden halo above, I sat in lotus pose, with colourful felt pens & a pink writing board! Smiling, with an erect posture, & bright eyes,
I stated to God, “I’m ready God...”
So, together, we created a detailed but simple list — A Life Plan, about what my journey on Earth would look like, including my life purpose, who I would have relationships with, my experiences, & so on.
This is how our captivating, yet amiable chat transpired:
“Good morning dear child. So you are ready to plan your next visit to Earth. Let’s start with your Earth name; for a name holds a powerful energy that you will carry your whole life. It is one of the most important pieces of what makes you, you. Tell me, what shall your name be when you are born on Earth?” asked God.
“Well, my favourite playground is the warm Ocean, I love water…” I playfully remarked.
Smiling, God exclaimed, “Okay, your name will be Sareeta! In the Sanskrit language, Sareeta means River.”
God then asked, “What trait do you want to acquire?”
“God! Now listen carefully: I ALWAYS want to be B.R.A.V.E.,” I said boldly with confidence in every letter of that word.
“Well that you are my child, that you are,” he cheerfully stated, “...You will join the Bahadoorsingh family. In the Sanskrit language, it means: Brave Lion!”
“...& God, & God,” as I warmed up in excitement into Tree Pose, vocalizing my next wish,
“Can I pleeeeease have these same palm trees around me that we have here in Heaven? ...& you see that man down there on Earth, I’ve been observing him...I see he enjoys learning, & reading about Mysticism & paint colours; Look he’s doing a headstand on the beach! Cool! I want him to be my dad, please?”
Before I could wait to hear God’s answer I swiftly continued,
“God, quickly, look down again, do you see that beautiful woman down there that he’s with? She’s playing with those two little girls. I see that she drives to a school, teaching math. I want her as my mother, ‘cuz you know I need help in that department! I’ve been looking down on Earth for some time now, & she’s quite like you God: wise, loving, & always very tender towards those two sweet girls, & ever-so patient! They all seem so pure. Can they be my family, please?”
God takes my Calligraphy Pen & cements the following:
Birthplace: Trinidad, West Indies
Ancestors: India
Faith: Vedanta, Hinduism
He firmly stated, “…and yes, they, Ganesh & Urmilla, will be your parents as well as having those two sweet sisters, Anjili & Aruna. They become radiant guiding lights in your life. Very smart. Very helpful.”
“Will I have a brother?” I questioned.
“Yes, you will. The six of you will be a Forever Family,” God stated. “But first, what values do you want to uphold when you are on Earth?” God inquired from me.
My Values:
1.) Unconditional Love for Myself & Others
2.) Forgiveness
3.) Faith so I’ll always be connected with You
4.) Patience
“Very nice. Let’s continue...” God replied. He moved his head to the right & shared the following:
“Look at that angel playing basketball? He will be your Earth brother. Dear child, you will encounter a major life experience with him. Navin will be his name. Now listen carefully to me: You will have 25 years with him. But remember, remember, Earth is a rich ground to experience what the first value you requested to uphold: Unconditional Love.
So, when you are with him when he passes back into these Gates of Heaven, you will look at him, & you will hear my whispers of what I tell you now, “It is natural to weep. Do, do cry & breathe through the earthly loss. However, there must come a time when you must exhale & remember his real residence –uniting back here in Heaven.”
With a quivering voice, I questioned God,
“But didn’t you say that I will have a forever Earth family? Why will you take him back to Heaven?”
God firmly but kindly replied, “Unconditional love does not only exist in the people you have relationships with on Earth. The connection between you & your loved ones is eternal.
“I see,” I softly replied.
God continued, “Let’s talk about another form of Love: Selfless Service.
A few months after you are born, your Earth father & some other wise men will meet a Guru in India bringing his Teachings to Trinidad. His main Teachings are of what we are speaking of: to ‘Love all, Serve all.’ Later on, your Earth Parents will be your Guides & teach you how to live by these philosophies. One day, they will take you to meet your Guru for your 25th birthday present! I have witnessed that in that 20’s decade, people go through a psychological growth spurt & it brings on some confusion. If you feel this, you will get an opportunity to reconnect with what Bliss feels like when you meet your Guru & understand the difference between Confusion & Bliss. It is this feeling that you must always remember because when others encounter feeling lost or confused, you can then one day help redirect others back into self-love.
Also, my child, Unconditional Love & Forgiveness, the second life value you requested to practice on Earth, are intertwined. Love looks like this: we all have a common bright light & everyone carries their own unique vibration within their light. When you are purely Light — you will not only look bright, but you will feel light. When you are feeling light & feeling self-love, your light grows.”
God continued, “Your main Earth assignment is to help me by reintroducing people to their light & joy. Life is supposed to be like a fun play you see on a stage (in Sanskrit the word for life play is “Leela”). You have life experiences & relationships with others to help you evolve. But, you see that purpose of having an Earth Life will get jaded, & for some it will become like a heavy drama. People will forget how to be simply happy, because wants become needs, many become very self-righteous, upholding spiritual values will be on a decline, in turn, Large Egos will be on the incline. Human emotions such as long-term sadness & anger, will be like a grey veil over humanity, that a reactive nature will become the norm. Due to this shift, people will do many unkind acts to each other, even sometimes to themselves. You, Sareeta, you have to realize whatever you experience from others – ‘good or bad’ as they say on Earth – never lose sight of your Self-Love. The cure is to silently emit loving light towards those who have hurt you –that’s the best way to forgive someone. Furthermore, it is those people who need your non-judgmental assistance.
“Wow, that’s heavy stuff God! &...how...do…you...expect....me...to do that for other people?” I slowly & unbelievably said.
“When you are a little girl, you get a surprise gift. You all will be migrating to Vancouver, Canada. Let me warn you now little goddess, tall palm trees don’t grow there,” he chuckled! He went on to say, “Another gift is that you will attend the University of British Columbia. Here, you will learn how to deeply empathize with humans, how to have the most respectful curiosity for people’s lives, so much so, that your clients will trust you with their life story. Your life purpose will be to help your clients learn helpful tools that they can apply to get back on the path of well-being.”
“Wait, wait, back up a minute please God, what do you mean Clients?” I asked.
“Yes, you will do something called work, & you will teach clients to remember THIS-” God stretched out his arms, with palms facing upward, & turned his waist, side to side “-THIS, where we are right now in this light, calm, fun space called Heaven. You will teach them to recreate this space on Earth –BUT within themselves first!”
“Now you’re talking God! You know me soooo well! I love the sounds of my work!” I happily replied.
“That’s not all…” & he took one long finger from his hand, specifically his index finger, & pointed at some of the heavenly angels as they were doing cartwheels from one colourful cloud to the next. “…they will forget who they are when they are on Earth.”
God went on as he continued looking into my eyes, “Teach them not only what you will learn from your Professors. That’s only 1/2 of your education. The gift of being born into the family you have asked for, is because you will be naturally magnetized into delving deeper into the Vedantic Philosophies of Yogic Living & Meditation. You must apply this other 1/2 from Eastern-philosophy, & then they will become Whole once again.”
God remarked, “See how my angel son there is on that flat cloud? He is sitting in pure stillness with a smile on his face. He is going to forget how to do that on Earth. Can you see that little angel daughter of mine on that lavender cloud? She is going to have a challenging time breathing because she will carry the burden of worry with her due to having many many negative thoughts, creating a negative Self-Image. Her Self-love will be shaded with heavy feelings so much so you will not recognize her. But you my daughter, you have an attribute you have asked me to bless you with…
…so go brave & connect with people. Reteach the true definition of Self-love, simplistic living & evolving through 5 S’s:
1.) Silence
2.) Stretching
3.) Studying
4.) Service, &
5.) Suspiring
I humbly & softly replied, “God, you are describing holistic living - I love that!”
I continued, “How about my personal life? What will occur when I become a big person like those people down there?”
“Dear one, you really love to plan & talk,” God laughed cheeringly so! “Well this leads me to the third value your requested to uphold, Faith. Remember I said you will need to continue meditating on Earth? My que to you to assiduously practice sitting in Silence will be by bestowing you with what Earth calls an “illness.”
“Will I be okay?” I questioned.
God answered swiftly, “Due to having this illness, your Faith will become stronger when you choose to connect with me by earnestly meditating. You will suddenly get the answer when you are 18 years old if you will be okay as you will realize Meditation can heal. Your wonderful doctor will be astonished that you are still alive, & she will call it a Miracle.
God continued, “What I’m emphasizing here is the word choice. When you are an adult, you get the right to choose many things.
“To choose to meditate?” I asked innocently.
He replied, “You can meditate at any age, but as an adult, well, you will choose where you want to work, where you want to travel, what friends you want in your life & if & whom you marry, and so on.”
“I get to choose whom to marry? I thought this is why we are designing my Earth Life on paper now,” I remarked.
God said three words: “You- will- choose.”
We paused as my mouth hung to my throat chakra! Needless to say, I was moved into silence.
Hesitatingly I remarked, “But, but God, you have always been my teacher, my parent, my Guiding Light...YOU have all the answers to Life that will help me Evolve. Need I go to Earth? I am dependent on you alone. Let’s decide now.”
“My dear daughter, the third life value you requested to learn about, Faith, is also strengthened when you are making choices. You see, the one strong thread that ties us together is called “Intuition.” Remember, when you unite with that Intuitive thread, you can never go astray. Have faith that I am omnipresent in times when you need me to help you sort out big life choices. So, before every choice you make, stop & swim into the depths of silence... this word, “Intuition,” from this conversation today will vibrate like a current in the waters of your body, mind, & soul, & the answers if to do something (or not), or say something (or not), will come to shore.”
I bent my head down & closed my eyes, inhaling & ingesting God’s every word. continued:
“The fourth Life Value you are asking to uphold on Earth is Patience. If you practice patience, everyday can be harmonious. But if you continue pressing on & on, wishing, & wanting your way, & placing your expectations on others & Life itself, you will have moments of dis-ease. Disease. A difficult endeavor for many women is if they will have children. For you, be patient. I will know when the right time is to birth all souls.”
God took a deep breath & softly said, “My child, the Big Message here is: You need not know each event that is to come. Just remember in every moment especially in those moments of Pain, Hurt, or Darkness, that we are all Energy Vibrating in Love & Light. Yes, every living being is a Divine Spark of Light. For some, their energy will change depending on the Leelas or dramas they choose to partake in. Whatever one chooses, most of the time, don’t judge, just accept people & situations as they are.”
“I got it! I love dancing in my light, & seeing others in their light; the most amazing scene is when we connect with each other, we are one big bright light- we look like you God!” I shared with God exuberantly.
God remarked, “Exactly! You understand.”
The sun set & God said, “When you wake up tomorrow, you will be swimming in the waters of your Earth Mother’s womb.”
“Water? Oh, I’m so there God! It’s a deal!” I remarked.
We hi-fived each other’s palms! After my life plan was signed + sealed with God’s blessings, I flew off, but then turned my head back exclaiming, “Please always be with me while I am on Earth!”
God lovingly replied, “I always am. In ANY moment in time, just close your eyelids, take a deep breath in, & there I AM.”
My story above was immensely inspired by Neale Donald Walsh’s book: The Little Soul & The Sun, a simple, powerful story that brings children & adults a very profound truth: that underneath all that happens in the world, all that we call "good" & all that we call "bad," is love.
In summary, in times when we need direction, we all can communicate with the Divine. This leads to resting our mind & connecting with who we really are: Love & Light.
